    The brief

Run Rabbit Run is a fun SensorCore experience from Microsoft designed to get you moving and keep you motivated. Gramafilm were looking for a specialist agency with Nokia Developer status to develop their concept designs and ideas specifically to work for Windows Phone and its new SensorCore technology. The app was ultimately to be built for Microsoft themselves for the launch of SensorCore. They chose Wapple not only because of our deep understanding of modern UI and Windows design and development, but also because we would be able to provide all of the artwork for the experience, as well as build a micro-game and develop gamification within the app.

    The response

This was a great project to work on as it involved a spectrum of our skills and abilities. We listened to Gramafilm’s ideas for a fun, cartoon-style experience and created an array of cute and cheeky animated rabbit characters and immersive, illustrated, worlds. The rabbits would walk when the app-user walked and run when they ran, becoming buff if they exercised a lot or getting fat, and ultimately dying, if they did little physical activity – a kind of Tamagotchi experience. We developed on their idea that the user would earn rabbit accessories from walking by introducing a ‘carrot’ currency where a range of hilarious accessories could be bought with earned carrots at different values (some aspirational). Gramafilm also wanted to include a micro-game in the app which we developed on further and included rewards of ‘carrots’. The user experience and design we implemented is very much best of class for Windows - a beautiful flow and very intuitive. We also introduced a live-tile which would show the current status and health of the user’s chosen rabbit. The app was developed by our UK team in perfect time for launch. Run Rabbit Run has been very successful from launch, getting into Gizmodos top apps within a couple of days (http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2014/09/the-weeks-best-android-iphone-ipad-and-windows-phone-apps-54/) as well as WPCentral (http://www.wpcentral.com/check-out-run-rabbit-run-gamification-exercise).

    The brief

Kabbee is a taxi price comparison and booking service that connects with all cab firms across London and allows easy booking from anywhere across the City. The Company has raised significant capital funding in order to develop their offering and raise their profile and today has around 500,000 users. Kabbee had already developed their iOS and Android apps by the time we were recommended but they had no Windows experience. With the Windows user-base growing dramatically and looking to reach 15% within 2 years, this platform was now a significant priority for them and they needed to work with a team who had deep knowledge of the Windows interface to build their Windows Phone App. What we did special We took a look at their existing apps and discussed their wants and needs. After analysing user data and getting client feedback we were able to create some proof-of-concepts and propose a streamlined user-flow for Windows users that, if successfully demonstrated a better user experience, could be rolled out to the other platforms.

Bose wanted to launch their SoundLink Mini wireless speaker with a highly imaginative campaign to target tablets and smartphones. Part of this campaign would incorporate a highly interactive, “360 degree”, web experience centred on the touch-screen capabilities of target devices. Following our successful delivery of previous mobile product promotions, Bose approached us with a concept that pushed the limits of what is possible on the browser.

    The response

After evaluation we advised our client of some technologies we could implement to ensure the experience would work as they had hoped and some suggested changes to the design to improve speed and usability. We provided fully responsive web with html5 Canvas and Javascript and by incorporating some of our own smart technologies and methods we have ensured tactile pages with progressive loading and fast, intelligent, optimisation. The web site was delivered on time along with a user-friendly, content management system for ongoing ‘mid-flight’ updates. Our client has been able to launch as scheduled and within budget. Bose are also looking to maximise the exposure of the campaign, taking the experience to new locales worldwide beginning with APAC. They may even use the solution as a basis for future product launches. The site launched on 30th July 2013

Shortlist Media brought it to our attention that they were ready to implement a fully blown mobile strategy for the Shortlist 'freemium' weekly magazine. Shortlist already had a desktop presence, which was taking in huge traffic levels from both the UK and US. They recognized from their analytics that over 25% was coming from mobile devices. They knew they needed to take action quickly in order to satisfy their readers and monetize the activity.

      The response

Wapple was enlisted to apply the full creative design and development treatment to the Shortlist mobile experience. This mobilised all of Shortlist's article, gallery, quiz and competition content as well as the generation of new mobile specific features. One great feature in particular is the Pints and Pistachios section - which utilises GPS to serve the consumer with a selection of rated and reviewed watering holes and gastropubs in their vicinity - wherever they might be across the UK. As the site traffic continues to grow and diversify, we look forward to adding to the experience to further satisfy the ever mobile Shortlist readers. A key requirement was to deliver a site which would offer a like-for-like redirect from a desktop article for mobile. Wapple utilised the Architect product to meet this need.
