The fast-growing and successful company, which currently employs 14 people at its head office, won the awards for Overall Winner and Best Innovative Product for its Architect from Wapple technology.
The judges selected Wapple for its technical brilliance and provision of a product that taps into the rapidly increasing use of the internet via mobile phones.
Wapple Architect enables business and brands on the mobile internet. Architect is a revolutionary and truly barrier-breaking solution for anyone developing for mobile. It enables existing website content, data and applications to be presented perfectly for mobile users and mobile browsers. All graphics, forms, text and functionality fit perfectly within the phone screen and are optimised to each and every unique mobile web device from old wml browsers to newer smartphones such as the Blackberry and iPhone. Currently 5% of all internet traffic is generated by mobile browsers. As applications accessed when browsing on the PC internet do not generally work on mobile devices, this is now the time to optimise web content to mobile visitors.
Anne Thomas, Chief Operating Officer at Wapple said of the win, "We are absolutely elated at taking home two awards. This is Architect's first award since it was launched in April 2009 and provides recognition for the enormous potential it has across the world since it overcomes all barriers to entering the mobile web."
She continued: "The double award is a great recognition for all the hard work carried out by the team here who invented Architect, brought it to life, commercialised it and supported our customers who have been extremely successful with it. Our team is so happy to have won."
Mike Musson, ICT Cluster Manager, added: "This year we've seen the highest standard of award entries yet and competition has been incredibly tough. The ongoing judging process has been rigorous and the panel faced a major challenge deciding the final winners. It's fantastic to see the quality and diversity of technology companies the West Midlands region has to offer".
The ICT Cluster Excellence Awards were presented at the evening Awards event following the Annual ICT Cluster Conference held at the National Motorcycle Museum on 10 November 2009.
